Wat Tilok-aram is the ancient temple which drowned in Phayao Lake. Its name was found in the stone inscrioption and revealed that the temple is older than 500 years. The temple was built in 1476 by Phya Yutthidthira for the the glorification of the great King Tilokaraj in the area of “Buaksijaeng” which was the connecting point of the river and the villages aroun Phayao Lake. In 1983, the fisherman found the white-sand stone Buddha image in that lake and people named it “Phrajao Kwan” and installed it at Wat Sri-Umongcome. Later, the provincial researcher found the stone inscription and confirmed that the white-sand stone Buddhat image was “Luangphor Sila” which was the Buddha image of Wat Tilik-aram. Therefore, in 2007, local people installed Luangphor Sila back at Wat Tilok-aram.
